Tip 1: primero tiempo
Ask first: does the action happen now, before now, or after now? That decides present, past, or future.
Tip 2: luego aspecto
Simple = fact or habit. Continuous = in progress. Perfect = connected to another time. Perfect continuous = duration.

Do/does, did, will, be, and have carry the grammar. The main verb usually stays base, -ing, or past participle.
